As a member of the Nebraska Rural Health Association (NeRHA), I am writing to share my enthusiasm for this very important statewide advocacy organization, and to encourage you to become a member as well.

NeRHA is the only organization in our state that advocates specifically and exclusively for rural health in Nebraska. As a not-for-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing health in rural Nebraska, NeRHA brings together healthcare providers, consumers, educators, researchers, public health and economic development agencies and others to present a unified message in support of a stronger rural healthcare system in Nebraska.

I found tremendous value in joining NeRHA and am proud to have supported many noteworthy endeavors through my membership and participation. In return, NeRHA has provided unique resources, information, and networking opportunities needed to sustain Nebraska’s rural healthcare communities in an evolving and challenging economic and public health policy environment. Some of the services provided by NeRHA that have helped me include:

•The NeRHA Monthly E-News: NeRHA’s electronic newsletter that includes a monthly clearinghouse for state and federal legislation, the latest rural-related research, and breaking health-related news coverage;

•Providing technical assistance and education workshops for rural health providers, including advocacy training, farm safety, and quality improvement; and

•Convening the annual Nebraska Rural Health Conference to provide information and resources, and to promote communication and collaboration among healthcare providers, government agencies and others.
